A moment for Boston

All of us at Your Guy for That and Intown Focus Realty wish to extend our deepest heartfelt sympathy to the families, friends, and loved ones of the recent Boston Marathon tragedy.

There is no words, no gesture, and no thing can take the biting sting from loss; and only the honestly offered hand in wanting to help can be shown to help ease this painful path.

We ask all who wish to help in some small way, look to donate through your local Red Cross Disaster Teams, as they struggle to assist those in Boston. The link below will take you to their national donation website.

Here Comes a Millennial Housing Boom

By Nicole Goodkind
The housing market has leaped head first into recovery mode. March’s housing numbers show that the S&P Case-Shiller Index is rising more quickly on an annual basis than it has since 2006, existing-home sales have experienced 12 months of year-over-year price increases and new home sales are 29% higher than they were a year ago.
A new survey by PulteGroup shows that the housing market will continue its upward trend. The study interviewed renters between the ages of 18 and 34 (otherwise known as generation Y or millennials) and found that 65% of respondent’s intentions to buy homes had increased over the past year. 52% of millennials indicated a desire to own and build equity.

There are around 90 million millennials living in the United States, making them the l… Continue Reading Here Comes a Millennial Housing Boom

YOUR CREDIT–The First Thing to Do Before Buying a Home

By Gerri Detweiler | Credit.com

Home prices in most parts of the country are just about as affordable as they are likely to get, and mortgage rates remain super low. Together, those factors mean that many people are thinking about buying a home. Some will be first-time homebuyers, while others will be “boomerang” buyers who lost their homes in the housing meltdown but are now hoping to get back in. Still others may see this as the best time to upgrade to a larger home, downsize to a smaller one, or to move to the retirement locale of their dreams.

Whatever your motivation for buying a home, unless you are going to pay cash for the property, there’s one essential step you must take first: get your credit reports and credit scores.

The reason? Your credit scores will hel… Continue Reading YOUR CREDIT–The First Thing to Do Before Buying a Home

Cork: Nature’s Gift to Flooring… yes I said “Cork”

By Janice Howell, vice president, MODA Floors & Interiors

Cork flooring has been enjoying a resurgence in popularity. Many people think cork is a relatively new and possibly unreliable flooring option. Yet, you can find examples of cork floors that were installed over 100 years ago in buildings.

Cork is an environmentally sound product. It also is a rapidly renewable resource.

Cork is actually the bark of the Cork Oak, which grows primarily in Portugal. Cork can only be harvested by hand to prevent harming the tree. No trees are cut down to harvest the bark, and cork trees produce new cork for re-harvest every nine years. A single cork tree can be harvested more than 20 times during its 250- to 300-year lifespan.

Housing Recovery Revs Up As Home Resales Rise

NBC News staff and wire reports

U.S. home resales unexpectedly rose in October, a sign that slow improvements in  the country’s labor market are helping the housing sector recovery gain  traction.

That, in turn, is feeding hopes among construction companies, whose sentiment rose for a seventh straight month in November to its highest level in six years.

The National Association of Realtors said on Monday that  existing home sales climbed 2.1 percent last month to a seasonally adjusted  annual rate of 4.79 million units.

That was above the median forecast of  a 4.75 million-unit rate in a Reuters poll.

NAR economist Lawrence Yun  said superstorm Sandy, which slammed in the U.S. East Coast on Oct. 29, had only  a slight impact on home resales. The only reg… Continue Reading Housing Recovery Revs Up As Home Resales Rise

Fulton County School Board: Reject the proposal to acquire homes for East Point School!

Petition by Jenny Stone, East Point, GeorgiaPetitioning President, Fulton County School Board Friends,
Many of you have been instrumental in communicating to the Fulton County School Board your thoughts on the proposal being made to include our home, and several others, in a land acquisition in order to rebuild an elementary school in East Point. At this juncture, we cannot block the Fulton County land acquisition group from making their proposal. But, we can make strides to encourage the School Board to reject options that would include private land acquisition.  We do not have a firm date on when the proposal will be made to the Board. But, we believe it to be in the new year. As such, we need your help again to ensure that the Board has heard from people that are in objection to ho… Continue Reading Fulton County School Board: Reject the proposal to acquire homes for East Point School!
